Webinar "Advances in Financing for Climate Change in Latin America": Results of the last session of the Climate Investment Fund

This Fund finances programs and projects on climate change in several Latin American countries. At the last meeting, it was decided that new countries will benefit from these funds. The webinar had renowned representatives of civil organizations in Latin America that participated in the process and detailed the official objectives of each fund.

EDUARDO DURAND_MINAM 3After the COP 19 negociationsin Warsaw and COP20 negociations in Lima, participating countries made the voluntary commitment to mitigate the effects of climate change according to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC),. Thus, the planned and specified contributions to National Level (INDC, for its acronym in English) were born. This is why, in an effort to contribute to the formulation and implementation of policies that address climate change with participation and transparency, DAR (Law, Environment and Society), invited the interested public to participate in this event, in which the content and the process of preparing the INDC of the Latin American region was analyzed. In a context in which governments must submit their INDC as goals to address climate change from 2020.

Grievance Mechanisms Workshop on International Financial Institutions

mecanismos de quejaThe workshop sought to empower civil society organizations, social movements and the public about internal policies available in international, regional and national banks for handling complaints related to violation of rights during the implementation of investment projects financed by these banks. Also we seek to promote an open debate about changes in the safeguard policies of the World Bank (WB). For this we have the participation of representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank (WB) who will discuss with experts and representatives of civil society from Argentina, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia and Mexico.
